BELVIDERE – The Blue Thunder cheerleading squad wrapped up its third straight title this past weekend down (February 2-3, 2019) in Bloomington. North blew its competitors out of the water, and also set an IHSA record for the highest score at a state meet with a 96.63 well surpassing Lincoln-Way East's score of 95 back in 2014.

Head coach Lacee Slaven says her cheerleaders may not stop here because they are set up for even more success.

"We've got a lot of talent even in our JV programs with both of our JV teams this year," said Slaven. "We're very blessed that we have enough athletes that we can have two teams that were really successful this year. Our large JV team scores in varsity range. There are many varsity teams that they can beat so we've got a lot of talent coming up and I think there's no reason we couldn't go for a four-peat."
