PHILOSOPHY

Our purpose and main goal for teaching physical education is to teach and inform adolescent students the proper and necessary skills for physical fitness as well as healthy and active     lifestyles.  We are committed to the school’s mission, vision, and values to ensure our students’ college and career readiness.  In order to do this, we plan to conduct a fun, safe, cooperative,     and high quality learning environment.

GRADING POLICIES

Weekly grades will be given to each student.  Students will receive 10 points per day based on participation/behavior.  Students who do not follow expectations may receive a check mark (loss of 5 points) or a zero (loss of all points) for the day.  Additional points may be given for tests/homework.  Students who are absent will be required to make up the absence with physical activity before or after school or written assignment for full credit.  All school activities (band, chorus, sports, field trips, etc.) will be considered excused and do not require a makeup activity.

Daily Grade - Cooperative Responsibility

MEDICAL EXCUSES

Students with a medical excuse for PE should bring a doctor’s or parent’s note to the nurse.  Students should report to the library for written work during their PE time.  This assignment will replace the student’s grade for the day.  If no assignment is completed, it will result in zero points.  The student is responsible for obtaining and returning their completed work to their PE teacher.
