Welcome to Belvidere HS Athletics! Athletics is an integral part of education and we encourage all of you to participate!This website provides important information regarding our interscholastic sports programs. If you plan to become involved in sports during the 2016-2017 school year, please review all information/dates carefully so that you can plan ahead as some meetings are mandatory in order to participate.
Belvidere is a member of the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC-10).
Other NIC-10 members include: Rockford Auburn, Belvidere, Belvidere North, Rockford Boylan, Rockford East, Freeport, Rockford Guilford, Machesney Park Harlem, Rockton Hononegah and Rockford Jefferson.
Students who choose to try out for and compete on an interscholastic team at Belvidere High School must register and obtain an Athletic Permit PRIOR TO TRYOUTS OR SEASON PRACTICES. This permit allows a student to participate for the remainder of the sports season or until his/her physical date expires, whichever comes first.

Each student athlete must have the following COMPLETED BEFORE an Athletic Permit will be issued allowing participation in any Belvidere School District athletics:
On-Line Athlete Registration
Each student athlete must complete the athletic registration process on-line at http://il.8to18.com/belviderehs. Through this process both parent and student athlete will acknowledge reading and accept the implications in the Code of Conduct, District 100 Concussion Protocol, IHSA Eligibility Rules, IHSA Performance-Enhancing Substance Testing Policy, IHSA Steroid Testing Policy Consent to Random Testing and Parent/Guardian & Athlete Release. Current Physical Examination
Each student athlete must have a current physical exam form or statement from his/her doctor indicating that he/she is physically fit to participate in sports. A copy of this exam or statement must be on file in the Athletic Office BEFORE the student may practice or compete in their sport. All physical exams are good 13 months from the date the physical is completed. A Pre-Participation Examination form can be found below.
Impact Concussion Testing
All student/athletes will be required to complete the impact concussion test prior to issuance of an athletic permit. The test is a computerized test that sets a baseline. Should an athlete receive a concussion, the athlete will need to exceed this baseline in order to be cleared to play.
An athletic fee will be assessed per sport and must be paid prior to the first practice and/or tryout.
Fees: 1st Sport - $75.00, 2nd Sport - $75.00 & 3rd Sport - Free
Once ALL the registration processes have been completed, the athletic office will verify academic eligibility, clearance from prior sports/seasons, Impact test completion and that the physical is on file. Athletic permits will be issued and given to your coach prior to the first practice/tryouts. No Athletic Permit; no participation!
All freshman and new student athletes and his/her parents/guardian must attend the PRE-SEASON MEETING before the beginning of the fall, winter, or spring sports seasons. This meeting is a rules meeting presenting the District #100 Code of Conduct and athletic policies. The pre-season sport specific portion of the meeting is designed for the parent/guardian to meet with the coach before the start of the season. Failure of the athlete and the parent/guardian to attend a PRE-SEASON MEETING will result in the student athlete not being able to participate in that sport. If you are unable to attend the meeting, the student athlete and parent/guardian should contact the Athletic Office for information missed at the meeting regarding the Code of Conduct. Sport specific information distributed at the meeting must be obtained from the coach. Every effort will be made by the Athletic Department to meet the above requirement so the student athlete is not prevented from trying out for a team or starting practice on time.

PRIOR TO ATHLETE PARTICIPATION!
We strongly encourage all individuals who plan to participate in interscholastic athletics to get their physicals in June, July or August. Exams are valid for 13 months from the date of the exam. Getting the exam during these months avoids ineligibility issues related to expired physicals.
