Many thanks to Peer Support for bringing BCMS into the nation-wide Great Kindness Challenge during the week of January 22-26.
Small acts of kindness can make a big difference, and the Challenge was a whole school week devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible.
Kindness Through the Decades
On Day 1, students wrote thank you notes to staff members at the lunchtime Kindness Kiosk. The thoughtfulness was greatly appreciated! Many students and staff wore their favorite vintage clothing.
Team Up to Clean Up
Sports apparel encouraged, and many students spent part of their lunch time cleaning up their school.
Feel the Comfort of Kindness
What better way to be comfortable than to spend the school day in your fluffy PJ bottoms and slippers? Students collected supplies to be donated to Fresh Start Animal Rescue in Belvidere.
Military Appreciation Day
On Day 4, many students and staff sported camoflage, and students created valentines to be sent to those serving in the military.
B.C.M.S. Clubs Also Participated
National Junior Honor Society members visited Seth Whiman Elementay School to read with the younger students.
Show Your School Spirit
Friday brought the usual school spirit-wear day, but a new twist at lunch - students were encouraged to sit with a different group of kids and make new friends. Those who had completed their challenge (40 or more items checked off the Great Kindness Challenge checklist) received their reward of 15 TRREKs. But the biggest rewards were all the smiles!
