Concessions building honors legacy of late community leader
Posted August 31,
2010

In April, 2008, community
leader and life-long resident Bob Turner passed away. In his
honor, his best friend Milt Brown donated $150,000 to the Belvidere
School District for the construction of a concessions building at
Belvidere North High School. With a $10,000 donation from the
Turner family and a $150,000 pledge from the Blue Thunder Boosters, a
concessions building, ticket office, and restrooms now stand proudly at
the entrance of the Milt Brown Stadium.
On Friday, September 3, the
Belvidere North Blue Thunder will host the Harlem Huskies in their home
opener. During halftime of the varsity football game, a dedication
ceremony will take place honoring the life and contributions of Mr.
Turner. The Blue Thunder Boosters will present a check in the
amount of $21,000 representing the first installment of their pledge,
and Milt will pay tribute to his dear friend Bob.
Tickets are $4 for adults
and $2 for students and can be purchased through the Belvidere North
athletic office or at the gate.
